Doing Being Becoming Belonging

Our mission is to reduce loneliness by bringing joy and community connections into the lives of carers, older adults and those with long term/life limiting illness/disabilities.  In everything we do, we use the concepts of DOING, BEING, BECOMING & BELONGING. Our team of seasoned health and arts professionals carefully select nature themed creative arts and growing activities delivered in group sessions or through activity boxes. We inspire and empower people to pursue their passions, BEING themselves with others, achieving their dreams for a better life (BECOMING), whilst BELONGING to supportive local community networks.

Doing Being Becoming & Belonging in Care Homes

The prevalence of severe loneliness among older people living in care homes is at least double that of community-dwelling populations (Simard & Volicer, 2020).

In all of our products & services to the care home sector, we purposely and carefully include activities which celebrate the identities of residents and the life they've led, whilst bringing them closer to the people most important to them (BELONGING).

Our easy windowsill microveg activity (pictured) offers a chance for connection between care home well being staff and residents, sharing an activity which gives a sense of achievement (BECOMING) for both residents and care staff.  What's more, growing microveg ccan be done in a small, indoor space, so is well suited to those confined to their bedrooms

Doing Being Becoming Belonging in Hospices

We are addressing a need for social support initiatives to tackle experiences of loneliness at end of life. Loneliness impacts on symptoms including pain and breathlessness and overall well being at end of life. It also impacts on the psychological & physical well being of carers and relatives of patients.

We've found that activities like sunflower growing bring people together (BELONGING) and create hope (BECOMING). We want to give both hospice patients and carers the chance to DO something which is not medical or related to their illness, something that gives time for pause.

Doing Being Becoming & Belonging for Women's Wellbeing

Our sessions for Women's Wellbeing have been so popular in communities that sessions are oversubscribed. Offering space for creative expression (DOING) mindfulness (BEING), identifying goals & aspirations (BECOMING) and support from others (BELONGING), we've found that women leave our sessions feeling so much better about themselves and they then recommend us to neighbours and friends.
